Space Shuttle Enterprise Settles Into the Big Apple
This summer, Time Warner Cable was named an official sponsor of Space Shuttle Enterprise’s arrival into New York City and of the Space Shuttle Pavilion.
As an official sponsor, we've been following and documenting each step of the Space Shuttle experience -- from the awe-inspiring engineering feat that was its arrival at NYC's Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, to the recent unveiling of the shuttle in its new home, the Space Shuttle Pavilion.
Our Chairman and CEO Glenn Britt joined an esteemed group of speakers at the opening ceremonies of the Space Shuttle Pavilion on July 19. Also presenting opening remarks were astronauts from the Space Shuttle's 1977 Approach and Landing Test Crew, NASA Administrator Charles Bolden and Intrepid Museum executives.
At the opening ceremonies, Britt addressed the audience and spoke about the exciting partnership, which shares our Connect a Million Minds commitment to inspire the next generation of problem solvers:
It is our hope that exposing today's youth to a great example of STEM in action--in this case, the Enterprise--will serve as a catalyst for great innovations to come from our future leaders."
In addition to sponsoring the Shuttle, the Intrepid Museum is a signature partner for Connect a Million Minds in New York City. Over the next year, we'll be hosting CAMM events and activities for the public on board the historic flight deck.
If you're in the New York City area, be sure to stop by the Intrepid to check out the hands-on, high-tech Space Shuttle exhibit. Not in the Big Apple? Time Warner Cable customers can watch the historic voyage of the Enterprise to its home on the Intrepid by tuning to Local On Demand (Channel 1110), under the "CAMM" tab.
