And the Winners Are....

'Tis the season to celebrate the winners of Time Warner Cable's Super Connector Search. Meet Cherri Rowe from Dallas, TX (left) and Anna Lozar from Carlsbad, CA (right).

A panel of expert judges selected Cherri as our national contest winner, recognizing her work as a robotics team leader for the Boys and Girls Clubs (BGCA) of Greater Dallas. By introducing young members of the Boys and Girls Clubs to FIRST robotics opportunities and competitions, Cherri has helped kids embrace engineering, see that "math is not their enemy" and take on challenges that they never thought they were capable of.

The panel of judges that selected Cherri included Emmy award-winning director Michael Franzini, Time Warner Cable Chief Communications Officer Ellen East and members of the CAMM Advisory Board: Executive Director, Lemelson-MIT program Joshua Schuler, Executive Director, Afterschool Alliance Jodi Grant and President & CEO, New York Hall of Science Margaret Honey.

Cherri has received $15,000 grant from Time Warner Cable for BGCA of Greater Dallas. She will also receive a trip to Los Angeles to tape a Connect a Million Minds public service announcement that will air throughout Time Warner Cable's footprint. And, to top off the connection merriment, she'll score a year of Time Warner Cable service. Cherri recently celebrated her Super Connector status at the Oak Cliff Boys & Girls Club, where she was joined by BGCA club members and staff and Time Warner Cable employees from the Dallas area.

In addition to a national contest winner, the public helped name a "People's Choice" winner during a period of online voting. With over 100,000 votes, Anna Lozar was the Super Connector crowd favorite. By serving as the volunteer coach for math, science and robotics teams at the Carlsbad Education Foundation (CEF), Anna has helped young people see how "math and science apply to the real world" and challenged kids in her community to think about STEM careers.

Anna has received a $15,000 grant from Time Warner Cable for the Carlsbad Education Foundation. Last week, Time Warner Cable employees invited Anna and her family to a celebration at the Avira Oaks Elementary School in Carlsbad, CA. Joining the celebration were CEF representatives, elementary school students and, for a science-fueled side show, Dr. Don Victor from "Mad Science."
